With the help of a Ratchet tensioner the webbing of a restraint system (lashing) is tightened to the required pre-tensioning forces. In the process, the adjacent strap is inserted laterally and fixed with a lever. The loose end of the webbing is threaded onto the shaft as with a lashing strap and tensioned with the pressure ratchet. Once the desired pretension is achieved, the straps are released again and the ratchet tensioner is removed.
